Over the years, we have named brands across different fields.

We have shaped verbal identities that have given our clients & partners a place to begin, grow, and become recognizable.

Our Naming Process

… begins with an enigma—a potential.
A name does more than identifying a thing: It creates/changes the way a thing appears (and feels).
It thrives through the way it’s seen, spoken, repeated and searched.
It survives by being remembered.

The word Koly «کولی», in Persian refers to a wandering nomadic person or group.
Dispersed travelers who move between places, carrying their world along the way.
But »Koly« is not just any traveler or explorer as it normally interprets in English.
Koly arrives charged—imbued with culture and poetry.

Koly evokes:
Music
Dancing
Road dust
Freedom
Mystery
Marginality (not being mainstream)
Surprise

Koly challenges:
Fixed identity
Paradigms
Permanence
Sameness
Emulation

Koly roots in:
movement
memory
rhythm
relation
possibilities

1 ) Movement
Koly moves.

Movement means to encounter.

To encounter means to change in relation.

To change means to keep moving.

2 ) Memory
Koly doesn’t move empty-handed.
It carries memories as remnants of its encounters.
Koly perceives memory as a portable archive.
The road changes how Koly perceives.

3 ) Rhythm
A traveler usually follows a rout, a map.
Koly follows rhythm.
A map is external: tells one WHERE to go.
A rhythm is internal: teaches one HOW to move.

4 ) Relation
Koly never travels alone.

It moves hand in hand with relation.

Through relation, it creates connections.

Through connection, it expands the world.

5 ) Possibility:
Koly is not home-less or identity-less.
It carries possibilities of home and identity with it.

Choosing the name »Koly« did not simply give the studio a name.
It marked a condition in a specific time and place—an encounter.

The name carries a biographical truth:
a self in motion,
a practice born from displacement,
a home made through work,
a journey translated into design.

Studio Koly’s idea of creating experiences takes form according to the terrain of each project.

Every project becomes a temporary dwelling—a place to enter, influence and be influenced, and then leave with something changed.
